These 3 friends from Stealey, Marsha Woods Roper, Sharyn Cottrill McGahan and Roleta Smith Meredith, met in Morgan Grade School, went to Central Jr. High School and WI High School. Then Marsha and Roleta were roommates at Fairmont State University. They stood and shared lots of memories. Thanks to Marsha's daughter Robin Roper who drove Marsha and Sharyn to the picnic. Sharyn flew in from WV and Marsha and Robin came in from Hollywood, Fl. It was so good for these life time friends to be together again. This is what reunions are all about.

The
annual Clarksburg Reunion
Picnic was held on Saturday March 12 at Twin Lakes Park in
Sarasota Florida.
Friday
March 11
Many picnic goers come
to Sarasota to make a weekend of it (i.e. arriving on Friday). So many years
ago, Bob Clousson started a tradition of Friday Dinner Together, just for those
who arrived on Friday or those who lived near by. Bob passed away a couple of
years ago and since then his wife, Darlene, has made the arrangements for our
Friday evening gathering.
This year, we met at
Philippi Creek Oyster Bar in Sarasota; we visited and we sat and we ate. Orders
are taken, the food is served and we passed out sheets of paper with the words
“Take Me Home, Country Roads”. After our dinner was over, we all joyously sang
this beautiful song together. (Just a side note: the restaurant holds about
150-200 people and I am sure they all heard us singing!)
The following pictures
were taken during our Friday night visit. Most of the pictures were taken by Bruce Gordon, married to Barbara Allen Gordon (WI 1956) There were approximately 35 in
attendance.

It seems so strange
that the picnic is now over. There are so many memorable and wonderful things
that happen during the picnic each and every year. We don’t just meet, visit,
eat and leave, I plan an entire program for the day. I believe everyone goes
away happy with many great memories… or at least, I always try to make it
memorable event.
This year we had 93
people in attendance at the picnic. I thought it was much less than that but I
did notice that on the registration sheet there were 2 names on one line in
several places and some people who were there had not even signed in on the sheet.
We usually average around 100. It was a great crowd.
If you were at the
picnic and took pictures, please share them with us by sending them to me,
Roleta1@aol.com.

The hardest part of the day was saying good-bye...
But let’s not make it good-bye...
Let’s make it “UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN” and let’s make a special effort to get together again sometime… someplace… soon.
My thanks to all who
made a point to come to the picnic this year to say good bye and to show
appreciation for the 17 years that we have been together.
Now join me in
singing...

IT’S WEST VIRGINIA,
THE PRIDE OF EVERY MOUNTAINEER'

These two ladies were
present at the picnic and represented all the wonderful WIN Scholarship
Quilters who participated in making the quilt. All this effort was headed up by
Sue Selby Moats (WI 1955) who came up with this idea as a way to earn money for
the scholarship.

The winning ticket for
the quilt was pulled from the bag of ticket stubs by Pam Wolfe Brown, who
worked on the quilt. Darlene Clousson (widow of Bob Clousson, WI 1955) was the lucky winner. She had left the picnic earlier but Roleta called her
right after the picnic to congratulate her. She lives in Sarasota , Florida only a few miles from Roleta so she delivered the quilt on Monday March 9.
